Worn to botanical gardens, April 2018. A more casual outfit for a springtime stroll with a friend in a botanical garden. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to go outside. Fruit is far from ready in April where I live but I was excited for warm weather, so I wore fruit and bright colors. I also wanted to wear the Poison Strawberry necklace I’d finally found after hunting for it for a long time. We saw lots of magnolia trees in bloom, ducks and other birds, turtles, and cute spring flowers, including a kind of tulip that looked a lot like the Silent Princess from Breath of the Wild (god I love the new Zelda game so much) but the center was yellow instead of light blue. We also went to an ice cream stand afterward :)
In general, I think my favorite reactions to lolita fashion are from children and there were lots of them on this day. I looked to the side at one point and saw a little girl who was running in circles come to a dead stop and stare with her mouth open, haha. There was also a woman who had brought a group of children to the gardens for a walk, and the woman pointed out my parasol because she had just been talking about parasols to the kids, and then there I was holding one.
I think I’ve figured out what I love so much about this dress: the combination of red, blue, and white and how bright they are but all balanced and distributed so nicely on the print.
