Worn to a local meetup, January 2018. Something on the simple side for going to lunch with the local community. The restaurant was known for its huge collection of vintage toys set up all over the inside, its ice cream and candy shop, and the carousel out front. I was trying to plan what to wear the week before as I fell asleep and then it hit me: I have a dress with a carousel border print. How appropriate. Things I love about this particular dress are that the carousel print has non-pony animals (tigers, rabbits, deer, and swans to name a few), it’s got an adorable angel wing collar, and it’s super comfy (tent dress for the win). I never liked ponies that much. If I were riding this carousel I’d pick the swan or the tiger. :)

This is another dress I keep wanting to pair with pink even though there’s no pink in the print. I wore this bag with it to echo the wings on the collar. I love all the removable, interchangeable pieces. Shoutout to the shopping service I used, TaobaoTrends, for helping me get it. I don’t know how their service and shipping fees compare to other shopping services but I particularly liked their easy to use cart system, and the service fees included taking photos of all the items in my order after they received them before shipping them to me. I also appreciated having the option to remove extraneous individual packaging on the items like shoe boxes to make the combined package lighter/smaller (read: cheaper) to send overseas.

I wore my hair up to show off the wings on the collar and bag. I am trying to get better at styling my hair, so I curled my ponytail myself. My hair likes to be as straight as possible and curls usually unravel within 30 minutes without hair spray, so I sprayed it both before AND after curling. It stayed mostly curled through dramatic temperature changes, from being touched with the hot iron to outside where it was 15 degrees F and snowing to back indoors at 70 F, so I consider it a success.
