This coordinate is inspired by Tanabata/the Star
Festival, which some East Asian countries celebrate today (July 7). It
has its roots in a Chinese folk tale, "The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl".
The titular characters fall in love and get married but an angry god
banishes them to opposite sides of a wide river with no bridge. On one
night per year, on the night of the Star Festival, a flock of magpies
forms a bridge across the river so that they can be together. In the
night sky, these characters are represented by the stars Vega and
Altair, and the Milky Way galaxy is the river. In earlier times it was a
day to pray for the protection of crops, a good autumn harvest, and
success in finding a spouse but in modern times, celebrants make lots of
different kinds of wishes. Make a wish tonight!
